Immacolata Amodeo

Born in Carfizzi (Italy); nationalities: German and Italian; since February 1st, 2012 Secretary General of the German-Italian Centre of European Excellence Villa Vigoni (Loveno di Menaggio, Como, Italy); since 2004 Professor of Literatures at Jacobs University Bremen (currently on leave).

Former activities: research and teaching positions at the Universities of Siegen and Bayreuth, Germany, and at the Università della Calabria (Cosenza), Italy; Studies of Modern Languages and Literature in Perugia; German Studies in Frankfurt a.M.; certified and sworn translater (Hessian Ministry of culture and education); PhD at the University of Siegen; Habilitation (Venia legend) at the University of Bayreuth; free-lance activity for radio and television; (together with Libuse Cerna, Radio Bremen) director of the literature festival globale - Festival für grenzüberschreitende Literatur (Bremen and Bremerhaven, annually from 2007 to 2011).

Main research topics: European Literatures from the 18th to the 21st century; history and theory of media; relations between literature and other media (especially opera, music and film); migration and literature; literature and multilingualism; questions related to cultural theory; colonialism and post-colonialism.
